Raffi’s Arrival
The day of the Nor’easter: that’s when Raffi was scheduled to fly to Luxembourg. His first flight to Europe (ever) and the weather was playing tricks on him, *sigh*. His flight was cancelled 2 days in advance, which was really a blessing in disguise. He received advice from one of his colleagues that he should consider flying out from Philadelphia; he called British Airways and transferred his flight from Newark to Philadelphia. Thankfully, the two-hour drive was worth it and his flight wasn’t cancelled.
Raffi insisted on several occasions that I make him a sign with his name on it, like those taxi drivers who pick up arrivals at airports. I rolled my eyes at him, but I did it! Here:

We ordered a Renault Clio from Enterprise (I wasn’t a huge fan of the car, but it was the least expensive option). Getting automatic shift instead of manual in Europe costs twice as much, so we felt the need to save some money. But when we got to the counter to pick up the car at the airport, the representative asked us if we wanted to pay extra to get full insurance coverage–when we said yes, he offered us a VW Golf instead. Thank goodness! It’s a better car.
Driving from the airport to my house was very easy with the navigation system in the car. Once we got there, I started making dinner. It turned out so well! I also thought it looked pretty tasty so I took pictures of it. Who am I kidding, I don’t need excuses to take pictures of food. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And all together:

The flight to Luxembourg from Philadelphia was pretty cool. No one was on the plane Tuesday evening, so I had the entire row to myself so I got to lay down and sleep a lot. There were two meals given as well and that was also pretty cool.
When I got there Wednesday afternoon and when I saw Beata, I was so happy. I had not seen her for 5 weeks and it was a pretty bad 5 weeks for me, so when she actually had the sign and she was there waiting for me, I was really excited and happy to just see her.
The car was okay, and did the trick. We got to her house pretty quickly and she then made me a great dinner. I always knew she was a great cook, since she has cooked for me previously, but she really did a great job with this meal. She continues to show how great and skilled she is at everything that she does.
We ate and then talked about our upcoming European adventure together.
Awesome! The dinner looks delicious, Raffi looks happy and it seems that the first day went really well. Can’t wait for the rest of the posts LOL 🙂
