Picture-Taking at the United Nations
Okay, so why is there a peacock in this post? Truthfully, only God knows. But in reality, to get your attention! This peacock was strutting around the gardens at the United Nations and I just felt like sharing. Also, because I have no other photos of the UN. Our group went to the United Nations to get our pictures taken for our photo IDs! We need the IDs to do research and study in the library. The picture is pretty horrible. Actually really horrible. Which is why I’m sharing it! To make you laugh. π
The library, although beautiful, did disappoint me just a little. I expected it to be HUGE, but only a measly three floors are accessible to students. [Then again, if I think about it, this library contains almost exclusively research on international affairs, international law and environmental studies so it’s actually A LOT of information.] Two floors are closed off for staff and one floor is just for diplomats (well coo coo ca-choo). The library is mostly trilingual (French, German and English), although some books are in Italian andΒ Romansh. In addition, the United Nations upholds an entire database full of documents in all six of the official languages of the United Nations–English, French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin and Arabic. The amount of information I would have access to is absolutely unreal. So excited. π

Beata, this is such a big deal, and you look great on this card!
